Interxion Data Centre in Zurich accredited for Banking solutions
PWC Data Centre Security audit confirms high standards of Interxion data centres
Zurich, August 17, 2005…Interxion, the leading provider of carrier-neutral data centre and managed services in Europe, today announced that “Data Centre Security” audit, conducted by Price Waterhouse Coopers (PWC) at Interxion data centre in Glattbrug, Switzerland, has been successfully completed confirming that Interxion data centre meets the stringent IT physical security requirements for banks.
The audit looked to verify whether Interxion’s data centre meets outsourcing requirements for banks, as detailed by the SFBC (Swiss Federal Banking Commission), circular Outsourcing SFBC 99/2. The audit was conducted in two principle areas, namely ‘Determination of the outsourced business’ and ‘Physical Security’. The scope of the audit included ‘Threats’ and ‘Safeguards’ and covered Technical Failure, Temperature and Humidity, Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), Adherence to Fire Protection Regulations and Building Parts Requiring Protection.
The auditor concluded that Interxion complies with the material components and requirements and that the Interxion data centre can guarantee a high level of security and service availability. The data centre offers high level of power and cooling infrastructure redundancy that ensures the continuous availability of customer servers. Power supply systems tests, conducted by PWC, demonstrated that in case of the main power grid failure all power supply systems, including redundant power generators and Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) systems, ensure uninterrupted operation of customer equipment. In case of failure of one of the cooling units its functions are taken over by a redundant unit without degradation of the climate conditions in the premises.
The data centre offers high level of customer data protection and only authorised customer personnel can have access to it. Systems belonging to different customers are physically separated in order to guarantee maximum data protection. Access to the data centre premises is strictly regulated and is constantly monitored. Apart from several layers of physical security, access to the customer premises is controlled with biometric systems and mantraps, and constantly monitored with video cameras and specially trained security personnel.
”The results of the audit conducted by PWC confirm high standards of security and infrastructure at our Glattburg site giving current and future banking customers additional confidence that their data and equipment are protected to meet banking sector requirements and are benchmarked to the highest industry standards,” said Anthony Foy, Group Managing Director Interxion.
