We all know that global data centre demand is growing exponentially, with more and more organisations relying on third-party facilities like Interxion’s to house and support their critical infrastructure.
There are so many benefits to a colocation facility (which I won’t get into now, but you can find elsewhere on our site), and many enterprises are realising that the efficiencies an external data centre delivers really can’t be matched.
Interxion is always listening to and interacting with those enterprises to help us better provide the services that our customers want, where they want them. In particular, we’ve seen huge growth from cloud providers, financial services and digital media, and are doing what we can to build out our corresponding Communities of Interest.
The most recent result of this close collaboration is the announcement of our ninth data centre in Frankfurt FRA 9, which is scheduled to be operational in the first quarter of 2014, will be built in a single phase to provide an additional 800 square meters of Equipped Space and 1MW of customer-available power.
Interxion is also accelerating the availability of the second phase of our previously announced FRA 8 new build. The revised schedule has the second 900 square metre phase scheduled to be operational in the second half of 2014 instead of 2015. The first phase is on schedule to be available in the first half of 2014.
