AMSTERDAM - 6 September 2012 – INTERXION HOLDING NV (NYSE: INXN), a leading European provider of carrier-neutral data centre services, today announces a Cloud Hub Day in partnership with the City of Amsterdam, Ernst & Young, Russell Advocaten and GigaOm.
The Cloud Hub day is targeted at IT companies looking to expand their service offerings to the European market. "As the City of Amsterdam, we are inviting information technology companies to visit Amsterdam and explore its potential as a global business hub and gateway to Europe. This opportunity will help companies to understand the benefits of a virtual and/or physical presence in Amsterdam. We will give you a complete picture of Amsterdam as a digital gateway to Europe and explore business opportunities specific to the European market. To achieve this we have developed a great agenda in close co-operation with our partners" said Dieter Oude-Kotte, Senior Manager Foreign Investments at amsterdam inbusiness.
Amsterdam has seen a strong growth in the number of companies locating their cloud computing infrastructure in the city. According to CBRE’s European Data Centre Market View report from December 2011: "Amsterdam’s data centre market continues to grow driven largely by the requirement for cloud computing solutions despite economic uncertainty in the Eurozone”. This is driven in large part by the excellent connectivity that Amsterdam offers for cloud platform deployments.
"Cloud computing platforms in Amsterdam can deliver services to the entire European market" commented Kevin Dean, Chief Marketing Officer at Interxion. "Interxion has been developing carrier- neutral data centres in Amsterdam and across Europe since 1998, and we are glad to take this opportunity to show visitors the possibilities and potential of Amsterdam and our Cloud Hub capabilities within our Amsterdam Data Centres”. Dean continued, “The right type of connectivity is essential for cloud computing applications, as is the avoidance of latency bottlenecks in order to deliver a consistent end user experience. At Interxion we are able to provide the right connectivity options for cloud providers, including Ethernet Services, IP Transit, CDN capability and peering from Internet Exchanges, AMS-IX and NL-IX”.
Participants in the Cloud Hub day will visit a number of locations in the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area and have the chance to network and build relationships with both local and international industry experts. The event is open to a limited number of participants to ensure interactivity and networking amongst attendees. The event will take place the day before GigaOm's Structure:Europe conference on 16 and 17 October, where Werner Vogels, CTO of Amazon.com and Neelie Kroes, Vice-President of the European Commission with responsibility for the Digital Agenda, will speak.
