Senior Mechanical Engineer
Operations, 08 January 2019
You’ll ensure that the mechanical equipment at our data centre works safely and efficiently through its entire lifetime, from planning and commissioning to operations, preventive maintenance and eventual replacement. This will involve monitoring critical equipment, recognising anomalies and carrying out timely maintenance and repairs to maximise performance. As an in-house mechanical expert, you’ll support and train junior colleagues, as well as managing subcontractors to ensure their work meets both quality and safety standards. You’ll also have the scope to work with international colleagues, supporting a variety of expansion projects and helping to design and plan new facilities.
What you’ll need
You’ll be a highly experienced mechanical engineer, with a background in maintaining and supporting a wide range of critical equipment, such as chillers and coolers, adiabatic systems, air handlers, building monitoring systems and hydraulic pumps. As a natural problem-solver, with strong hands-on maintenance and repair skills, you’ll work well under pressure and will be able assess electrical and mechanical capacity and make informed decisions. This means you’ll know your way around building blueprints, as well as cooling and electrical single lines and schematics. You’ll also be a good communicator and comfortable writing technical documentation, such as MOP/SOPs. Having completed a technical higher education in mechanical engineering, you’ll also need English up to B2 level.
