Event: New Subsea cables will build strong foundation for international business in the Nordic Region

To explore the Nordics’ new Gateways further, Interxion had invited the leading subsea cable operators and connectivity experts to share their knowledge and present their outlook for the development in the Nordics at an event the 2 of October 2019 in Copenhagen.

At this event we learnt how the Nordics region will benefit from innovative and modern subsea cable projects currently under development. Most importantly we saw how collaboration between these systems, data centre operators, internet exchanges and terrestrial networks can maximize benefit to enterprises and content platforms in the Nordics.

“Within the Nordic region, new projects include Eastern Light that has connected Helsinki and Stockholm, while the Skagenfiber cable plans to link Norway and Denmark. Internationally, Aqua Comms will connect Denmark to the US and the UK via two new high capacity cables that will go live before the end of 2019. These projects will provide network operators and content providers based in the Nordics with options to improve the speed of their networks as well as enhance their resiliency. These investments are creating a strong foundation for further international investment in the region,” said Mike Hollands, Director, Market Development & Strategy, Interxion, who was the moderator of the day.

Interxion would like to thank the three sponsors Aqua Comms, Netnod and NL-IX, the speakers from Eastern Light, Skagenfiber, Celtic Norse, Telia, Tampnet and Facebook plus everyone who attended the event and thereby contributed to creating a great atmosphere and valuable networking!
