Interxion Selected by MindArk to enable Entropia Universe
AMSTERDAM, 21 April 2009 – Interxion, a leading European provider of carrier-neutral data centres, today announced that it has been selected by MindArk PE AB, developers of the virtual world’s Entropia Platform, to host their data centre infrastructure. Interxion will enable MindArk’s virtual Entropia Universe – an expanding universe of interoperable 3D virtual worlds. This virtual universe is set for further growth with the launch of several new planets from independent developers using the CryENGINE®2 graphics motor.
To guarantee maximum security and availability for the Entropia Universe, the Interxion facility MindArk selected provides 2N UPS power and N+1 cooling, as well as the most advanced alarm and monitoring systems. It also supports the latest high-density power configurations and runs on 100% green energy with free cooling and maximum-efficiency components as standard. Customer equipment and connectivity are monitored 24x7 by expert local staff, with additional round-the-clock monitoring and support from Interxion’s ISO 27001-certified European Customer Support Centre (ECSC).
“As our global user base all connect to the one universe, we have very specific demands for networking services with the lowest latency to the US and Asia,” said Mats Kling, CTO at MindArk’s support and operations subsidiary EUSO AB. “As well as providing this, Interxion’s facility also offered us the highest level of security, power availability and associated cooling infrastructure, fire detection and prevention and operational support to guarantee the 24/7 availability of our virtual universe.”
“MindArk’s Entropia platform is a perfect example of a new generation of innovative interactive platforms to which availability, connectivity and scalability are absolutely vital,” said Interxion Group Managing Director Anthony Foy. “Our international infrastructure is designed, built and operated to create the ideal environment for such an expanding online universe.”
