- 1.5 MW power increase in grid connection
- Available space capacity increased by nearly 25%
- Environmentally friendly seawater cooling optimises PUE
STOCKHOLM 16 May 2011 – INTERXION HOLDING NV, (NYSE: INXN), a leading European provider of carrier-neutral colocation data centre services, today announced that it is increasing its power supply by 1.5 MW in its Stockholm data centre , which will allow it to increase the available space capacity of the data centre by nearly 25%.
The increase in space availability will help Interxion to meet demand for colocation space in its Stockholm Financial Hub which continues to gain critical mass by attracting interest from an array of financial services market participants. Customers can interconnect with their counterparties within the data centre at ultra-low latency and benefit from being able to quickly and efficiently change trading strategies when required.
“This investment not only allows us to meet the needs of our most technically demanding customers, such as low-latency financial services providers, but also increases available space to meet our customers’ growth requirements,” explained Peder Bank, Managing Director, Interxion Sweden.
Interxion’s Stockholm site offers high levels of redundancy, reliability and standards-based operation, with up to 2N on UPS power and N+1 cooling, as well as advanced alarm and monitoring systems. The data centre has been designed using Interxion’s energy-efficient modular architecture, with free cooling and maximum-efficiency components as standard. Energy efficiency at the data centre will be enhanced through its highly sustainable seawater cooling infrastructure, which will further improve the data centre’s Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE).
The project is expected to be completed in the third quarter, 2011.
