What is the difference between a data centre and colocation?

A data centre is a facility designed to provide a secure location for the IT infrastructure of businesses. The facility will be purpose built to provide adequate power, cooling and connectivity for that infrastructure. Colocation is one of many services data centres provide which allows businesses to host their hardware outside their business location.
